ANGELICA MARIE SANCHEZ
Hello,
MY NAME IS
Angelica Marie.

But you can simply call me Angelica!
As the youngest of an immigrant family, I grew up to be very family-oriented where I spent a lot of time with my parents and Lola (grandma in Tagalog) every week. Cooking and watching tv/films together has always been the moments I cherish the most. Not not only do we get to spend time together, but there's always a personal story or a fond memory to be told behind every dish we made or every film/tv show we watched together. Also, a Blockbuster run was always an exciting time -- much more exhilarating than endlessly scrolling on Netflix!
Through these little moments I became fascinated with the concept of storytelling and how stories can come from anywhere -- from the slightest difference on how my mom cook's a certain traditional dish because that's how her mother taught her when she was little, or how Supernatural and the CSI television series has been embedded in my mind since I was eight because my Lola was obsessed with the shows and she was my roommate.
My second passion is in digital media. I learned how to work a computer at a young age and quickly self-taught myself how to use an editing software to manipulate images into mediocre collages (Picnik and Fotoflexer used to be my go-to websites). I laugh whenever I stumble upon those collages and realize how much I have improved my technical skills over the years.
My childhood certainly shaped what I want to achieve as a career in the creative industry -- to write, create, and bring representation into the stories I tell because that's what I admired in the films and tv shows I grew up watching. Representation matters especially if it can aspire future storytellers and give minorities a platform to express their voice.
Now I spend most of free time editing photos/videos, creating different layouts for my blog (I have yet to last with the same design layout for more than six months), recording lifestyle videos for my YouTube channel (a part-time hobby), and planning creative projects to do with my friends. Like everything else in life, I still have so much more to learn and skills to improve to become a better storyteller and digital content creator.
